In response of the RTI filed by Ajay Pratap Singh a resident of Manipuri in UP Archaeological Survey of India has disclosed information based on the historical records of Mathuras Krishna Janmabhoomi temple complex.
The office of the superintending archaeologist of ASI Agra circle has replied on the RTI file based on the query of Ajay Pratap Singh on Mathuras Krishna Janmabhoomi temple complex, ASI disclosed the information based on the historical Records of the 1920 gazette.
"Portions of Katra Mound which are not in the possession of Nazul tenants and on which formerly stood a temple of Keshav Dev which was dismantled and the site utilised for the mosque of Aurangzeb." The information was been officially shared by ASIO in their response to the RTI.
In the ongoing dispute of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi- Idgah Mosque case, which has the next hearing in the Allahabad High Court on February 22nd the lawyers for The Hindu plaintiffs would submit the ASI report. This might be a great evidence for the case and might become the most important stimulator of this dispute.
The Hindu petitioners contended that the mosque had been built by Emperor Aurangzeb after demolishing the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple and claimed and took over the ownership of the entire land. The petitioner also challenged the 1968 agreement between the mosque committee and Shri Krishna Janma Bhumi Trust for allowing the Mosque to continue and exist on the land.
