East Bengal's Trophy drought comes to an end after 12 years
East Bengal's 12 years of trophy drought has come to an end with the hand of Carles Cuadrat.
East Bengal has been crowned the champion of the Kalinga Super Cup after beating the host Odisha. East Bengal finally removed their trophic after the 3-2 win over Odisha FC in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The Clash was fought at the Kalinga stadium in the super cup competition where East Bengal was behind 01 goal in the half time and the full time they were 2-2 and in extra time East Bengal Skipper Celeiton Silva in 117 minutes scored the title-deciding goal.
In the first half, Odisha FC took the lead in 38 minutes as Diego Mauricio scored the first goal. In the fifty-first minute Nandha equalized for East Bengal, in the 62nd minute Saul Crespo converted a goal and gave East Bengal a lead of 2-1. In the 97 minutes, Odisha awarded a penalty and Ahmed Jahouh scored the equalizer for Odisha. On the 113 minutes, Souvik Chakraborty received the red card and East Bengal went down to 10 men, on the 117th minute Celeiton Silva won the hearts of the East Bengal fans.
